Grievance Handling

As a press organization, ‘Agtechkorea’ appoints and operates an ombudsman (grievance handler) pursuant to Article 6 of the ‘Press Arbitration Act (Act on Press Arbitration and Remedies, etc. for Damage Caused by Press Reports)’, in order to secure public credibility and to voluntarily prevent and remedy damage caused by our reports. The ombudsman investigates whether readers or sources have suffered damage as a result of our reports and may request corrective measures, corrections, or counterstatement reports for coverage that is factually inaccurate or defamatory. If you have any complaint, please let us know the relevant details and we will address them as promptly as possible.

[Regulations on the Operation of the Ombudsman]

1. Qualifications and Appointment of the Ombudsman

  • The ombudsman shall be an internal or external person who has a high understanding of the reporting content of Agtechkorea and is capable of performing the duties.

2. Disclosure of Identity

  • The name and contact information of the ombudsman shall be permanently posted at the bottom of the website and in the ‘Corrections and Counterstatement Reports’ category.

3. Principal Duties and Authority

  • Remedy of Damage : Receive and handle readers’ complaints or grievances regarding defamation, infringement of property rights, etc. arising from reports.
  • Fact-Checking and Recommendation of Corrective Measures : Investigate whether the reported content is factual, and if an error is found, recommend a correction, counterstatement report, or follow-up report to the responsible party.

4. Remuneration

  • When an external person is appointed, an allowance shall be paid in consultation with the ombudsman. However, internal executives and employees shall not be paid.

5. Grievance Handling Procedure

  • Receipt : Received via the dedicated website channel, email, or telephone within 60 days from the date of the report.
  • Investigation : The ombudsman investigates whether the matter is factual with the reporter and desk editor who prepared the relevant article.
  • Determination : The handling direction (correction, counterstatement, dismissal, etc.) is decided within 7 days from the date of receipt.
  • Notification of Results and Measures : The decision is notified to the applicant, and where correction is necessary, the measures taken are reflected on the main page of the website or at the top of the relevant article.

6. Disclosure of Grievance Handling Activity Records

  • Regular Reporting : Activity records such as the number of cases received and the handling results are disclosed through the website at the end of December each year.
